The Order of Play for the Finals Day of this year's Men's and Women's tournament has now been published and Bounds Green tennis fans look set for a feast of tennis.

In the Women's Singles, there will be a rematch of a Group B clash between Asha and Renée. Renée edged two close sets on that occasion, but we can count on another closely-fought affair. Renowned as one of Bounds Green's canniest match players, Asha will need all of her tennis nous to overcome Renée's all-court front foot game.
In the Men's Singles, Phil will take on either defending champion Ales or third seed Danny. Their delayed Men's Singles Semifinal will not be played until Saturday morning. Ales is seeking his third singles title in a row and Danny is a regular on Finals Day, so both would bring huge amounts of experience to the occasion. Phil has done well to recover from a serious knee injury in March 2024, only coming back to full fitness this Spring. He has shown that he is better than ever, ousting three seeds on his incredible run to the Final. Can he make it four and seize the trophy?
The Men's Singles Plate sees wily veteran Shamus take on big-hitting Jack. Jack will need to bridge an experience gap of over forty years if he is to win his first Bounds Green title. Expect an intriguing clash of styles in this one, featuring everything thing from drive volleys to drop shots and serves ranging from flat bombs to underarm surprises. The match promises to be a fitting climax to what has been one of our strongest ever Plate competitions.
The Women's Doubles sees a repeat of last year's final, with Asha and Alessia looking to defend their title against Barbara and Helen, who got a measure of revenge in the Group Stage, just edging a Match Tie Break. If recent history is anything to go by, expect some long rallies, close games, clever matchplay and extremely lengthy sets. These are four players who rarely miss. At least with a mid-afternoon start, the lights shouldn't go out on them this time.
The Men's Doubles sees Ales and JP, winners in 2023, looking to reclaim their crown. The Argentinian / Slovakian pair go in as favourites, but Robin and Chris showed in the Semifinals that pre-match odds mean very little. Robin, the 2024 Singles Finalist, brings huge firepower to the partnership and Chris' tennis IQ is off the charts. He will be looking to write another chapter in the lengthy Twomey Bounds Green roll of honour.
If the tennis alone isn't enough to get the mouth watering, then the curry, ice cream and drinks on offer in the bar are sure to do the trick. The sun is set to shine and the tennis will be sizzling. Bring on Finals Day!
