The Men's Doubles Plate tournament ended in an absolute thriller, with Jack & Patrick clinching a 6-2 4-6 7-6 (4) victory over Shamus & Michael. The match ended 3 minutes before the automatic floodlight curfew, plunging the trophy presentation into darkness. Thankfully the tennis was enough to illuminate a chilly Friday night, keeping a bumper crowd warm and on the edge of their seats.

This was a rollercoaster of a match, with the young guns Jack & Patrick taking early control in a dominant first set. However the wily old foxes Shamus & Michael turned the tables, taking the match to a final set. Both pairs had big opportunities in the final set. Patrick served for the match at 5-4, but was broken. Shamus & Michael then held serve, before breaking Jack, giving them an opportunity to serve it out. There was another twist though, with the younger pair breaking back and then clinching a tense tiebreaker.
This was the Men's Doubles Plate tournament and it was a big success, with a high level of tennis throughout and excellent participation. Hopefully it will be first of many!
