Big summer of tennis planned at Bounds Green

As the days begin, to lengthen and the weather finally improves, excitement is growing about the 2026 Bounds Green summer of tennis. This year will see some great competition, with the return of old favourites and the addition of some new events – all played on beautiful new courts. Let’s take a look at what is in store…

One Point Slam!

One point. One chance. Winner takes all. Do you think you have what it takes to beat allcomers when everything rides on one point?

If you missed the Australian Open One Point Slam, then get a taste of it here:

·      This guy hit a tweener and Medvedev could not believe it

·      Maria Sakkari beat Carlos Alcaraz

·      Jannik Sinner did not get very far

·      …and this amateur upset the field to win $1 million

The Bounds Green edition promises to be even better (although with slightly smaller prizes).

Keep an eye out for more details. The One Point Slam will take place on Sunday 19th April. Put the date in your diaries. This is not one to miss.

New Women’s Singles and Doubles Plate competitions

We will be trialling new Plate competitions for the Women’s Singles and Doubles. These will operate slightly differently from the other Plate competitions and will be open to all women members who have not played for the first teams in the past two seasons. The aim is to create some more relaxed tournaments aimed at players who might not otherwise participate.

Women’s and Men’s Singles and Doubles

The Singles and Doubles tournaments will return following a year of record entries and superb tennis. In total, there will be eight competitions for Women and Men:

Women’s Singles

Men’s Singles

Women’s Singles Plate

Men’s Singles Plate

Women’s Doubles

Men’s Doubles

Women’s Doubles Plate

Men’s Doubles Plate

Details about how to enter will be published later in March and expect a sizzling finals day on Sunday 28th June.

Mixed doubles

Following a bumper entry in 2025, the Mixed Doubles and Mixed Doubles Plate competitions will start in June this year, giving more time to play matches before the finals day on Sunday 20th September. Mixed tennis is booming at Bounds Green, with our mixed and veteran’s teams climbing up the Middlesex leagues in recent seasons, so expect some more high-quality and fun competition.

Singles box leagues

For those wishing to sharpen their singles game, we have five mixed and two women’s box leagues which have just kicked off. Watch this space for future rounds.

Social round robins

There will also be a series of social round robin tournaments timed to coincide with major events in the tennis calendar. The Vic Lincoln Memorial round robin will take place on 7 June, with events also planned for the finals days of Wimbledon and the US Open.
